We over-excavate, compact in lifts, and set every piece by hand, which is why the walks we built years ago still sit level through New England freeze and thaw. The most common thing we build and the one that changes how much a yard actually gets used. A paver patio brings the function of an indoor room outside, and done properly it needs almost nothing from you for years. We handle the layout, the base, the cuts, and the edge restraint, and we talk you through material and pattern before anything is ordered so you are picking from real options and real prices.
A paved walkway is the first thing a guest walks on and the last thing they walk out over, and it is a small enough project to be one of the best returns on the property. Front walks, side paths, landings meeting granite steps, and driveway aprons, in brick or paver with a soldier or contrasting border where the line deserves calling out.
Walls are structural, not decorative, and they are where cutting corners shows up worst. A wall holding real soil load needs proper base depth, drainage stone and fabric behind it, and backfill compacted in lifts as it goes up, or it leans out within a few seasons. We build block, natural stone, and timber, and we will tell you honestly when a wall needs an engineer rather than a landscaper.
Natural stone has a look that manufactured product does not, and every stone patio ends up one of a kind because the material decides part of the design. Bluestone, fieldstone, and irregular flagging, plus decorative stonework, pillars, and veneer. It is slower work and it costs more, and on the right house it is worth it.
The step up from a grill pushed against the house. Built-in cooking, counter and prep surface, seating, and stone fire pits, laid out so the space works when there are eight people in it instead of two. Built on the same base standard as the patio it sits on, because a settled outdoor kitchen is a much more expensive problem than a settled patio.
